# Like all other
American inventions of the Hallmark company designed to rob hapless, half-wits of money better spent on beer, Valentines day is something I have no truck with. My wife gets flowers at work, by courier every Monday morning as she has done for some years now and it pleases her no end. Sending anything to mark tomorrow would be like sending father's, mother's and christmas cards. Pandering to commercial greed and I won't have it.

I said Skugentines.

# hehe.
I did wonder who would be the first to say it.

Why should I find him, saves me a fortune ;)

# I bouycott the cut flower industry because of the way it treats African workers.
Jim knows this, but she is saddened by it.

I do grow her flowers though.

# oh fuck the slaves.
I have nothing against any of that stuff. Just pathetic attempts to make me guilty enough to mark a commercial day get my goat. I think people know I have no truck with it, no sir.

# I don't give a fuck about slavery
I just don't like people actively dying to provide an aesthetic.

World Health Organization and the United Nations Environment Programme reported that pesticides caused 20,000 deaths and poisoned 3 million people worldwide each year.

Workers are sent back into greenhouses and die. It might be excusable for food in a famine stricken country, but for flowers from Columbia and Africa, no.

# I chose to mishear you on account of your ginger hair and nautical appearance.
I make a card for some people at Christmas and Jim gets one from the girls on mother's day, which means that I do at least one. I do not do any buying of cards and nor do I do Father's day.

If I like someone enough to make them a card or write them a letter then that is fair enough, but if I don't then why fake it?

At work this Christmas an outworker who is well known to me and who my wife has done work for gave us a card, which was nice, but she got a card for everyone and having her standing next to Neil saying 'who is Neil?' waving a card with his name on it highlighted all that is wrong with people today.

They stand too close to Neil, the fucking lot of them.
