Portal may have been somewhat of a 'sub-game' as you put it in that it was short, but what there was of it was superb. I'm the most casual gamer ever but Portal striked me as a well thought out and immersing puzzler.

However www.thinkingwithportals.com www.myaperturelabs.com and www.portalmaps.com will keep you going with longer, harder more fun puzzles for ages. Just got great new levels from PMK!
