if you watch the normal one, not the director's cut, it's less heavy-handed.
a mate of mine met savini and told him that i'd said he looked like my mate. he said he was flattered and to tell me he said hello! i almost melted with pleasure when i heard...

# The Directors Cut is really just an extended version that was made to show in film festivals before general release.
Romero himself prefers the standard Theatrical one.
There is also the Argento version, which is shorter with more emphasis on the action, and has more of the Goblin music in it. Sadly I've not found the time to watch it.

The DVD I've got uncut is the 2 and half hour version.

i think it's about 20 minutes shorter than romero's director's cut. the standard one is still the best, though.
