After sitting through this godawful one though I'm loathed to see it. Anal Zombie Rape would be better.

I suggest you don't watch Land of the Dead... it might tip you over the edge. It really is a terribly bad film, with the innanest of scripts and absence of story.

Actually watched that again a few months back. I hated it at the Cinema, but strangely enjoyed the DVD. Just for the gore mostly.
New Romero isn't half bad either. Go watch it this weekend.

And it's nice to see Pegg and Frost in it.
That's all.

That's all.

It was just a balls to wall fun zombie film.
I know it's sacriledge, but I always found Dawn a little dull. the remake was much better.

i can see where you're coming from, the remake certainly has more action. but can you not love the original for its utter wonderfulness? zombies were meant to be slow back then, there's lots of gore, there's angst and humour. sure, the social commentary may seem a little heavy-handed, but that is vastly outweighed by the film's good points.

its all the 'social allegory' stuff.
Its as if he beleieved all the stuff people said about NotLD having this political undercurrent, even though he's admitted that wasn't intentinaol.
So on dawn he did it delibrately, and it justr bogs everything down.
Love Savini's biker gang though
EDIT: I should point out I am a zombie film WHORE and will watch anything with zombies in.
Christ i even sat through Oasis of the Zombies... which is more painful than it sounds

It's released in two totally different versions, because they filmed extra scenes for the European release and US one, with totally different cast and stuff. Seems pretty weird, and I don't know which version I should actually buy.

was relatively gore free... though I don't think even that would have improved it.

if you watch the normal one, not the director's cut, it's less heavy-handed.
a mate of mine met savini and told him that i'd said he looked like my mate. he said he was flattered and to tell me he said hello! i almost melted with pleasure when i heard...

Romero himself prefers the standard Theatrical one.
There is also the Argento version, which is shorter with more emphasis on the action, and has more of the Goblin music in it. Sadly I've not found the time to watch it.

i think it's about 20 minutes shorter than romero's director's cut. the standard one is still the best, though.

Utterly shocking. And not in a scary sense, in a shockingly inept sense.
I've got number 5 to watch too, but think i'll put that off as long as possible. I have plenty of others to keep me amused.

since i was 5. they tried to close it down about 10 years ago, but people wouldn't let them, so it's now a community-run cinema. if i ever win the lottery, i'm going to buy it and have friday fright nights there every week.
