# Isn't it Return of the Living dead 5: Anal Zombie Rape?
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:07, archived)
# There is a number 5 actually.
After sitting through this godawful one though I'm loathed to see it. Anal Zombie Rape would be better.
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:09, archived)
# if you are disappointed by the state of zombie films
I suggest you don't watch Land of the Dead... it might tip you over the edge. It really is a terribly bad film, with the innanest of scripts and absence of story.
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:12, archived)
# Ha ha.
Actually watched that again a few months back. I hated it at the Cinema, but strangely enjoyed the DVD. Just for the gore mostly.

New Romero isn't half bad either. Go watch it this weekend.

#
i'm too much of a scaredy to watch horror films...

# ^this. in shedloads.
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:14, archived)
# The lighting's quite nice.
And it's nice to see Pegg and Frost in it.

That's all.
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:17, archived)
# I enjoyed LotD
It was just a balls to wall fun zombie film.

I know it's sacriledge, but I always found Dawn a little dull. the remake was much better.
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:23, archived)
# *resists urge to burn joe's embassy*
i can see where you're coming from, the remake certainly has more action. but can you not love the original for its utter wonderfulness? zombies were meant to be slow back then, there's lots of gore, there's angst and humour. sure, the social commentary may seem a little heavy-handed, but that is vastly outweighed by the film's good points.
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:27, archived)
# Nah...
its all the 'social allegory' stuff.

Its as if he beleieved all the stuff people said about NotLD having this political undercurrent, even though he's admitted that wasn't intentinaol.

So on dawn he did it delibrately, and it justr bogs everything down.

Love Savini's biker gang though

EDIT: I should point out I am a zombie film WHORE and will watch anything with zombies in.

Christ i even sat through Oasis of the Zombies... which is more painful than it sounds
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:31, archived)
# Not seen Oasis....
It's released in two totally different versions, because they filmed extra scenes for the European release and US one, with totally different cast and stuff. Seems pretty weird, and I don't know which version I should actually buy.
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:36, archived)
# The version I saw
was relatively gore free... though I don't think even that would have improved it.
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:43, archived)
# i can't believe i'm going to say this, but
if you watch the normal one, not the director's cut, it's less heavy-handed.
a mate of mine met savini and told him that i'd said he looked like my mate. he said he was flattered and to tell me he said hello! i almost melted with pleasure when i heard...
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:39, archived)
# The Directors Cut is really just an extended version that was made to show in film festivals before general release.
Romero himself prefers the standard Theatrical one.
There is also the Argento version, which is shorter with more emphasis on the action, and has more of the Goblin music in it. Sadly I've not found the time to watch it.
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:43, archived)
# I've got the theatrical version
on video, but its cut.

The DVD I've got uncut is the 2 and half hour version.

zzzzzzzz.......
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:44, archived)
# i've seen the argento version
i think it's about 20 minutes shorter than romero's director's cut. the standard one is still the best, though.
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:45, archived)
# Then whatever you do, don't watch this year's 'Day of the Dead'
as 'Land of' looks like feckin' Ghandi film making in comparison
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:30, archived)
# Yeah, i've heard awful stuff about that one, but I feel it is my duty to check it out.
Maybe I am kind of a masochist for shit films.

# 'noon
so, you've seen it, then? what's it like?
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:15, archived)
# Shocking.
Utterly shocking. And not in a scary sense, in a shockingly inept sense.

I've got number 5 to watch too, but think i'll put that off as long as possible. I have plenty of others to keep me amused.
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:19, archived)
# pff
i expected as much. will you be watching diary of the dead this weekend? i'm going to try to see it sunday if i can
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:21, archived)
# Saw it ages ago, but will probably drag my housemate to it in the week sometime.
Doubt it'll be at the cinema for very long, but you never know.
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:23, archived)
# i'll try to go to my little local cinema
it's really old, reminds me of Demons, is only 10 minutes walk away and sells nachos with real nacho cheese.
a rare gem, i think you'll agree.

My local is currently rotting away in the hands of the UCKG... fuckers
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 15:45, archived)
# i've been going there
since i was 5. they tried to close it down about 10 years ago, but people wouldn't let them, so it's now a community-run cinema. if i ever win the lottery, i'm going to buy it and have friday fright nights there every week.
