a southern u.s. thing, the band co-opted it more in mockery than anything else. they constantly waver around being dickheads who dare people to take what they say (and sing) literally.
this is most displayed in their song 'bomb the boats' (chorus: "bomb the boats and feed the fish"), as a tribute to refugees, who were commonly called 'boat people' here in canada in the 70s and 80s. they were criticised as hateful white-power racists, and effectively replied "call us racists if you like, we may be and you'll never know if you just shriek at us. by the way, why target us when politicians and media outlets say much worse? is it because we're a punk band and don't have a lot of money?"

his dad (or grandad, i can't remember) once pulled him aside after seeing his new order t-shirt and explained what hitler had meant by 'new order' and why he, as a jew, shouldn't listen to such a band with a nasty name.
