# Ooooh I've not heard of this one *lives in a cave*
What platforms does it come on?
(, Fri 14 Mar 2008, 15:21, archived)
# PS2, FUCKING GET IT, IT'S BEAUTIFUL :)
(, Fri 14 Mar 2008, 15:22, archived)
# I shall think about doing so
when's the next God of War out?
(, Fri 14 Mar 2008, 15:24, archived)
# No idea :(
BUT.. BUT.. SOTC IS LOVELY.

I did this mrpineapple.co.uk/files/sotcwip.jpg

But never finished it, because the game was THAT lovely.

# That's very pretty....

# The game is absolutely stunning.
It quickly became one of my favourite games before I'd even played it.

It was ages (probably about 2 years from hearing about it, I don't remember) before I even saw it in a shop, and HAD to get it.

# I just want GTA4.
FFS.

# It'll never be as good as Vice City.
(, Fri 14 Mar 2008, 15:34, archived)
# Vice City was awesome.
I still preferred SA though.

# I want a console that can HANDLE THE DAMN THING :(
(, Fri 14 Mar 2008, 15:34, archived)
# Hahaha, mine will do as it's fucking well told.

# I think SOTC, Okami and Katamari Damarcy are must haves on the PS2
Although the latter two are nowhere in the same realm as SOTC but are still amazing games nonetheless.

And Monster Hunter, because it was briliant swinging a giant warhammer into a dragon's face.

# PS2.
You've heard of Ico, though, haven't you?
(, Fri 14 Mar 2008, 15:22, archived)
# Aye.
I got a copy of it, and then promptly got very distracted by one of the tomb raiders as it didn't come with the book and I got a bit bored in that big room.

I might give it another go.
(, Fri 14 Mar 2008, 15:23, archived)
# no.
My flatmate has a PS3 which backwards compatibles most things. How much would a second hand copy of this gem cost me?

I've largely loved games that are pretty as well as fun (see: Beyond good and evil)
(, Fri 14 Mar 2008, 15:24, archived)
# Heavenly Sword.
It lasts 3 seconds, everyone's got an annoying name and my favourite bit of it has the arguably worst name of all: twing twang. But I do so LOVE to play twing-bloody-twang.

# at the moment I'm enjoying
Stalker: shadow of chernobyl.

It is ace and also woo.

Pretty, in a sparse way, immersive, lovingly made. Top game so far.

The beginning, if you play on a non-pussy difficulty level, is rat-bastard hard though.
(, Fri 14 Mar 2008, 15:30, archived)
# That's my best mate's favourite comic, is rat bastard.
Is this a spy stealthy guns game? If it is my OTHER male close friend will no doubt buy it soon.
(, Fri 14 Mar 2008, 15:31, archived)
# more like
a first-person perspective fallout, with less humour.

You wake up in the area around the ruis of chernobyl in an alternate present where there were TWO unrequested fission surplusses, and now weird shit goes on there. You have to go do standard RPG fare (bring me stuff, kill this animal) to get better stuff and work your way towards the heart of the contaminated Zone and find out what the fuck's up. There are bandits and mutants and wild animals but most of the time there's just you and the environment.

The blasted buildings and associated bits and bobs are brilliantly put together and beautifully rendered, very evocative of abandonment.

there's quite a strong fan community who have modded it many ways, including making a kind of free-roaming, storyless version.

I'm just really liking the feel of it really.

# Ooooh that does sound good.
I might have to grab it on payday- thanks for the tip!

# I got a copy of ICO
for about £5 + p&p from ebay last year. It is very lovely but the female companion is a bit annoying and clingey (and you can't get rid of her).

# Good luck...
16 total, not to mention that you unlock hard mode, and time attack, then get unlockables from the time attack runs...

If you get into it like I did, you'll be dead before you complete it properly :D
(, Fri 14 Mar 2008, 15:31, archived)
# damn, I suppose I'd better get back into it then.
I always try to spread my gaming out, so I play at the same time over a long period!
(, Fri 14 Mar 2008, 15:39, archived)
# One of the best games I have ever played!!

I wish they'd bring it out on the PSNetwork
(, Fri 14 Mar 2008, 15:37, archived)
# You missed out the
"spend fucking hours hunting lizards" step.

Or was that just the person I was playing the game with at the time?

Nonetheless; beautiful game.
