He was a great actorwho spoke out against racism and for civil rights. He also made many films with strong environmental messages. He also spoke FOR a gun control act following the assasination of Robert Kennedy.
Then he got old and abit senile and became more famous for wanting to shoot stuff.
I personally think he could have died sooner and been regarded far higher than he will now. :(
