It seems perfectly relevant to geography to me, and we covered that kind of thing when I studied it (although I didn't do GCSE). Just seems like yet another misleading headline to grab attention.

Minus the Tescos bit, before it was just termed multi-national, and looked at expansion of large supermarkets,, their effects on local economics and their sphere of influence.
We also covered flooding, regardless of the previous years weather.
edit -We covered the Mississippi delta floods, which were far more spectacular than a small market town in gloucester, when I saybo, you say selcta spectacular, I actually mean devastating.
