What kind of strings were you putting on it?If you were putting steel strings on a guitar designed for nylon strings, then I would expect it to warp the guitar at the very least.
But if you were putting on the right kind of strings and not tuning higher than concert pitch, then it could not have been a particularly well made guitar.
