But the laptop isn't the primary display - thats the point. Its only used if we wanna watch something outside the living room.

but wanted to be able to stream the video while the PC could still be used, so windows media encoder just runs minimised and streams the input from the tv card. works fine!

share the DVD drive and decode it on the lappy.
Best quality and you will only be using the wifi & DVD drive. no encoding & v little CPU usage.
That'll be best really - as you can control it completly from the Lappy.

and ive got a natty life book widescreen laptop. the annoying thing is im still waiting for work to buy the wifi (main reason for wifi is coz i live close to work so i can work from home using wifi)
add a snes and a neo geo to that setup and then sneak in a zx81 and a bbc micro for ultimate in geekery. and wipeout fusion sucks. no dr. get wip3out. the best.

its nice to have a 30 min gap between games due to loading times and really badly designed pads. havign sed that, the amiga emu i got on the xbox is ace. sensi soccer is miles better with xbox pad.

i just moved here, left behind a 1meg cable. i live 200 meters from work, and 800meter wifi is available now. and its an ex-airfield i live on, with line of site to work. plus they got a T1 that i wanna abuse. (and i know what im doing, im a network manager - im just a cheap skate bastard one thats all)
