so as people emerge from the Big Brother house thinking they'd be famous, all that would happen is they would walk out to zero crowd and realise they had just wasted their time.

That was in 2004: The Stupid Version, also produced and featuring Iannucci obviously, which was in many ways a precursor to Time Trumpet.
