# it's horrible that these kids have to work instead of having a proper childhood.
however, the sad fact of the matter is that their countries' economies are very poor. these children are being paid what to us is a pittance, but what in their community would represent a decent wage. companies have always taken advantage of this and always will.

# would you rather them not work and starve?

# no
that's exactly the point i'm trying to make. they're doing what they need to do. they're not the ones moaning about unethical treatment. the ones who are doing that are the well-fed europeans with the cushy jobs and nice houses who know nothing about the situation except that these children are being paid what in europe would be a pittance.

# According to the programme
minimum wage in India is £1 per day but they are only paying 52p per day.

If they paid the going minimum wage then the parents could work and the children could have a childhood.

# if a young teen gets a paper round in england
they're up at the crack of dawn every day and earn about a tenner a week. kids never get paid as much as adults, it's the same everywhere. the country needs a huge economic upheaval, but it simply isn't ready for it yet. it may never be ready.

# This is the truth
Sad, but nonetheless correct.
