how the shitting christ do you not notice a bullet lodging in the barrel? a piece of lead travelling at 700mph suddenly stopping in the barrel would make you aware of its presence. hmm....

why were the sequels so godawful? its not fair.

The round is not travelling at 700mph when it is fired, only once it leaves the chamber.

but they were not using blanks, just dummys (so a blank contains powder, but has no projectile, but a dummy is just an ignition cap) so there was absolutely nothing to go wrong, except, of course, that a round was squibbed in the barrel and even then it was bloody unlucky that it did the damage it did.

A round propelled by a cap would not be travelling much faster than you can throw it.
