Although the odd episode with Mad Pierrot is brilliant.
One of the few pieces of anime I believe are actually good and not perpetually annoying Japanese stereotypes.

Because typically anime series seem to go on FOR BLOODY FOREVER. So I imagine it must have been both a way to appease fans and make money without ruining the serie's original ending.
I didn't think it fitted in particularly well though, too much saving the world, they usually only did that incidentally.
