Very. There are two odd episodes, the rest is alternately futurist and bleak and noirey.

Although the odd episode with Mad Pierrot is brilliant.

One of the few pieces of anime I believe are actually good and not perpetually annoying Japanese stereotypes.

Well it was basically just made because the fans were annoyed at the fact it had ended.

Because typically anime series seem to go on FOR BLOODY FOREVER. So I imagine it must have been both a way to appease fans and make money without ruining the serie's original ending.

I didn't think it fitted in particularly well though, too much saving the world, they usually only did that incidentally.
