My TV does that occasionallyPicture cuts out (but not sound) - only image on screen is a flickering line.
I found that turning it off, smacking the back casing a few times, then turning it back on works...
The set is maybe 10-15 years old.

Sounds like it's knackeredFailing capacitor or summat. Recommend you scrap it and buy a nice new one.

one thing you could try is de dusting itworked for my telly now that i think about it.
just open it up get the lint out and reseat all the plugs.
