leek potato is a classic. i love it, cold or hot.
i started my soup yesterday to build the flavour, ate only a bit today. tomorrow i'll hog out, like a hog.
do you have a food mill? i fucking love using mine, best return for cost of any 'gadget' i own, except for, perhaps, my blender.

Stick blender, and a small steel colander for any pre-working.
Had various other things over the years. Yet, I've

stick blender counts.
i gues i was thinking of at least semi-complex tools, such as anything higher tech than a pestle and mortar. so sieves and colanders, while i like them, are more tool than gadget to me.

I seem to be reducing in the kitchen as the years pass.
Example;
I use a blade can opener cuz I hate the gunk on roller ones.
So, adding a motor to it strikes me as daft. And so on.
Odd as hell, given my love of all thing that go beep.
