Compliance with the "Zeitgeist" is optional as far as I am concerned.
I prefer the more time/less possessions side of the equation.* Never impressed by baubles/shiny things.
*some things are not solved by money.

and am not ashamed of it. I still remained a socialist, I just managed to become reasonably well off at the same time.
The 70's however, now that was a bit pisspoor and I do remember when getting an egg with your chips and beans meant that dad was able to get some overtime on his 3 day week.
