# And what parts of Helmand did you
see that were welcoming the fact that they still have worse reliability in the utilities they had pre-war and welcoming of the troops that are clearing IED's from their patrol routes daily?

Just because the Yanks have awarded contracts to their ailing construction industry in order to make the capital look good for journalists does not mean the country is benefiting. Why have they not rebuilt Kajak as promised? That would do the single best thing for the countries infrastructure than making hotels and electricity in the capital.

# But it's not benefiting the nation
not at all. I don't want to argue with you Mongy, I've said before and I'm happy to say it again, I like you but I feel that people need to be careful with their opinions about these things especially when they are based more upon what propaganda they can read rather than the true state of affairs. Afghanistan was a lost cause 6 years ago and has not progressed on a national level since.
I see it from a soldier's view and it's really, really upsetting. People laugh and joke ( and are often quite insulting ) about me and how angry I get. Seriously, is it any wonder I and thousands of others are fucked up because of this? And we are the lucky ones.
