adopted it from loads of weird stuff left behind by a previous resident of a flat I rented.

Never really known what to make of it, is it pretty well known then?

not read it properly, but sort of, it seems to be the story of a Jewish mouse going through the Nazi regime, can't remember if everyone was mice or the Nazis were cats or something similarly cliched
