
The ancient Egyptians would embalm their dead, particularly their royalty. Since royalty was handed down only through the male line, most of the most famous discovered embalmed bodies are male. These embalmed bodies are called 'Mummies' after the Egyptian 'Mu-meh' meaning 'corpse'.
The humour of the joke (which the above was) comes from the juxtaposition of being able to refer to a father figure, for which a common coloquial term is 'Daddy', as a 'Mummy', which in itself is a common coloquial term for a mother figure.
