
that I've got a Flash blocker on this that lets me pick which animations I watch. This means that I can read the Youtube comments before watching the video, and in this case prudently decide not to click on the video to watch it...
Of course, in other situations it means that I can read the Youtube comments before watching the video, and Youtube comments make me want peel my retinas out.

Youtube comments are not even made by the stupidest people who watch the videos. There's a whole other realm of stupid that's hidden because the people who inhabit it are too stupid to type.

then flashblock works fine. it leaves a little play button in the middle of the video instead of actually playing it. saves acres of bandwidth and a lot of sanity. and your eardrums when some website decides it wants to play some shittily compressed flash ad at full volume.
