I wonder...Why they don't just use Imagemagick or something to auto-optimize(sic) the images as they're uploaded, and possibly provide a link automatically to a full version. Avoid all this nonsense in the first place.

If you use the b3ta uploader,it does automatically thumbnail things....

The b3ta uploader does resize bigger picsbut you can't use Imagemagick on gifs and preserve the animation.
At least you never used to be able to, it has been a while since I played with anything like that.
