mythI have a blue-ray reader and it still works fine with all my 'backup' versions of films :)

Probably there were various ways round it by buying bits of hardware they hadn't thought ofby the sound of it it only extended to things that physically fitted inside the PC, and monitors. It still sounds pointlessly crippled - even if you can buy such a whizzy machine that you don't notice. It just sounds unfair. And affects linux users too, since they pay for and use the same hardware.
