# One of the most 'must be' watched documentaries ever made
given the amount of shit youngsters can come out with; and not just the fools into racist politics, but the hard left as well; as with all the modern neo-cons; war is fucking shite

# fuck off. War's a hoot ;)
I loved this series. I don't remember when it was first shown but I associate it with my childhood. It has been shown again recently in it's entirety on one of the 'here's all the repeats +1' channels and as soon as i hear that opening music I'm a kid again.

# We were shown it at school in history lessons
which didn't involve much teaching in the traditional method of a teacher other than operating the video recorder

What fucks me off is my dad was at gordonstoun with Prince Charles, and yet sent me to a comprehensive in London

# That's a shame.
My lad's already been arranged for The Duke of York's RM school when he turns 11.

# Cool
there is nothing wrong with avoiding the state system, spending some cash, and investing in your lad's education perhaps free from the prospect of having to rub shoulders with housing estate wankers

# Also must see (even though more from a USA perspective)
Victory At Sea - my dad went into the USN in 1939, was at Pearl Harbor and was right in the thick of it all the way to the end. He gave the series a big OK.

we did the theme music in High School band - very stirring!

# The Japanese roused a 'sleeping giant'
Some of your dad's admirals were awesome, defeating the Japanese was no easy task; thank fuck they failed to see the importance of recycling their pilot's expertise through training

it more or less lost them the war

with a few other factors

# there was a lot of luck (and a few good leaders to over-rule the dead weight at the top)
and having un-bombed manufacturing sites for ships, tanks and all the rest, plus lots of oil... could have been a lot worse if Japan or Germany could have made effective strikes on the US.
