then heated those bits until they glowed red and threw them in a bucket of water (I was using really old pipes that were very brittle if I tried to bend them, heating them made them more flexible).
Then I cut the pipes down the middle to unfold them and make them flat. I then cut these into hourglass figures (8's)and started to hammer the outside edge with a chisel to make little groves (texture on the petal). Next I drilled a hole in the middle and reheated each petal as before. I assembled them all onto a it of electrical wire and soldered the bottom on. Finally I started to bend the petals up and curling them back at the top.
