the ssh crap is probably your firewall (ufw probably) blocking anything non local
or it's blocked higher up in the chain.
ubuntu is fairly simple. but you still need to set it up properly (yes those dirty dirty term windows rather than the nice happy guis)
ed: oh your work box may have changed ip addys? look at key exchange between them then. you have physical access to both of them.

I'm suspicious I need to look at dynamic DNS
- I'm not sure I have a static IP address... although I thought I did.
Things don't seem to stay working when I get them working, which is what pisses me off. Should probably just get it all working and then leave it running in a corner.
yeah - it looks like my router's reset itself - it's not even returning pings any more.
