# He's lion!

# yes it is fantastic
(, Tue 10 Mar 2009, 2:05, archived)
# i've just got up to the first level off the first world. it seems pretty cool
my computer is properly chugging trying to run it though. i have to have the setting on minimum and each level still take about 5 mins to even load :(

# it gets progressively cooler and more badass as it goes along
until it's so badass that it just has to end or you might die from badassery
(, Tue 10 Mar 2009, 2:09, archived)
# really? groovy. i'll have to dedicate tomorrow to it.
i really like the cover system and the specialised squads. did you play company of heroes? i hear thats supposed to be really good too
(, Tue 10 Mar 2009, 2:12, archived)
# i never played it, but i guess it's mostly the same game but in boring world war times.

# Dogs of War 2?
Is that like Gears of War 2 but with more Brian Blessed?
(, Tue 10 Mar 2009, 2:07, archived)
# dawn of war 2

# Ag!
I wish they'd make a Warhammer game I actually enjoy playing. One which is turn based like the actual game but doesn't require me to remember the fucking rules would do, plus lots of animations of people getting sawn up like in Battle Chess.

# GW don't want to make games like that though, they've stated they don't want to take anything away from the really hobby.
plus you can't charge £200 for an army online.

most of the fun of playing 40k is having an army to paint, you could never make it translate onto computer
(, Tue 10 Mar 2009, 2:14, archived)
# Surely painting and modularly making an army on a PC would be even easier.
And not just modding and texturing, I mean snapping bits together, making this bloke have this gun, stick these accessories on him, etc.

It's crap though, the games either control awfully like Blood Bowl, are just generally crap like Firewarrior, or are RTSes which my personality physically can't play like Dawn of War. Or are Space Hulk.

In fact a group of swedish indie game devlopers even made a completely new freeware version of Space Hulk from scratch with the permission, well they told them and didn't object, of the Games Workshop then they got all pissy and sent them a cease and desist. Got it on my harddrive somewhere.

# the "making this bloke have this gun, stick these accessories on him etc." is in DOW2 as well
(, Tue 10 Mar 2009, 2:35, archived)
# Can you really crudely paint an Ogryn to look like BA Baracus and then kit out a tank to look like the A-Team van?
*is guilty of doing this*
(, Tue 10 Mar 2009, 2:37, archived)
# I didnt say modding and texturing and painting was in :(
(, Tue 10 Mar 2009, 2:38, archived)
# Had to, GW found out they never finished paying the original creators before they fired them.
A number of their older titles are in a similar legal limbo due
to failure to play fair with past contractors and employees.

Not that it's stopped them from selling and pretending otherwise, LOL.

# what's the matter
too REAL TIME for you?
(, Tue 10 Mar 2009, 2:17, archived)
# i remember back before real time, when we used to play turn based pong.
(, Tue 10 Mar 2009, 2:19, archived)
# If there was a fucking RTS game where you didn't have to control an entire fucking army fighting on five different fronts
ON YOUR FUCKING OWN, then I might play it. As it stands there aren't, I just prefer shooting things in the face and blowing shit up not hiedous micromanagement of troops.
(, Tue 10 Mar 2009, 2:23, archived)
# in DOW2 you control four people
and you can play in coop mode so you control 2 people each.
(, Tue 10 Mar 2009, 2:24, archived)
# Really? That does sound quite cool.
I'd still prefer if it at least had Cannon Fodder controls. Games are going backwards!
(, Tue 10 Mar 2009, 2:30, archived)
# Can't potatoshop and play a turn or two when fingers and brain gets cramped.
