the song is, seemingly to me, about this guy going to a club to rave and dance, and seeing all these stereotypes, and saying how stupid it is, and how people should just dance and not care. But the band themselves are total stereotypes, and obviously really care about their appearance, looking just right for the 'scene', y'know...? Not saying their music's bad or anything, cos I quite like, but yeah...

It would seem as though I've got the message, albeit in an oblique way.
I have no idea what band or song you're talking about, but I agree about cloney, self-conscious stereotypes and their pointlessness. Sometimes the message transcends the medium, so yay for you!
