# that's what i'm intending
just hoping that the rest of the kids get that message - so many people want to protest who have no idea that that's exactly what they want

the school will be running a fundraiser for their gay/straight alliance every minute they picket, which will be funny to see how much they raise

# fundraiser for what though?
an awareness/knowledge raiser is better surely?

The pickets don't change people's minds, they may annoy, anger and intimidate. Really it's just an example of what reality is. You can get by pretending everything's fine most of the time.

# the westboro baptist church are just offline trolls.
leave them alone and they'll just get bored and give up.

# I've been saying it for a long time
as much as I don't like them I kind of respect them for getting off their computers and going outside to troll the real world.

# fundraiser for "promotion of diversity related causes"
no believe me, i get it, i'm probably not even going. i just hope everyone else knows enough not to attack them or even argue with them. organized lampooning, on the other hand, seems to work

# heh
I think this concept should be employed beyond just hate groups.

actually I can't think of a situation where a crowd chant couldn't be made better by this.

# lampooning is a noble art indeed :)
I've seen Louis Theroux do his version with them I think

# It's a strange scenario in America
The amount of money 'raised' for an election choice between just 2 candidates/parties realistically is unfathomable. And most of it is spent on advertising and promotion.

It's fully ingrained that changing people's feelings and views with advertising is the best/easiest/only way to go.

It seems the default response.
