# Not at all, the sudden shock of someone beeing fine then dead is filled with far more confusing thoughts and feelings
Disbelief and having to come to terms with a very sudden removal of a person from your life is horrible.

Being told you have x amount of time to die while horrible in one way, at the very least gives you time to prepare and come to terms with it.
Still don;t get why Jade has to sit and suffer/be unconscious on Morphine. If I was Max Cliifford, aside from stabbing myself daily, I'd take this opportunity to get the nation to accept euthenasia. If "Jade's plight"TM could encourage greater screening against Cervical Cancer AND stop the pointless suffering of thousands of elderly and sick people, then she really would be worth the press coverage she's been getting.

# If she is high on morphine she is not suffering
Voluntary euthanasia is the first step to compulsory euthanasia
If Mrs.T had stayed another term as pm then the old age pension would have been a bullet in the back of the head
anyone who now wants to die can go to Switzerland, very few do (and Jane Goody hasn't)

# What is wrong with the simple concept of choosing to end your own life?
If I've got a fatal illness, that will render me useless and a burden to all those around me including the state and the medical profession, then there's no way I'd want to hang around. Let people die with dignity, not in extreme pain or a puddle of their own bodily fluids.
Sure get at least 2 doctors opinions, make sure the person isn't rushing in to things and is unaware of magical miracles in modern medical science, but why make people suffer?

Even if Jade wasn't in pain due to the morphine, she still is in such a state that she won't allow her kids to see her or people to visit. So she's literally laying there waiting to be dead. It's stupid.

# It is easy for someone to kill themselves
It is wrong to expect someone else to do it
I dont see anything wrong with assisted suicide, nor with relatives switching off life support systems, but I am totally opposed to euthanasia (voluntary or compulsory)

# A first step to what?
I really think it isn't. I think it's desirable that in some cases, people have a way out of, as our law states it, 'unbearable and hopeless suffering'.

The Netherland have a form of 'legalized' euthanasia for years now. It's wrong to say it's completely legal, but there will be no legal actions against the doctors if the procedures were taking into account. It is a very strict system of having to carefully consult several doctors, and you have to have made your statements about wanting to die while you still were of a good mind.
Doctors who don't follow the rules are prosecuted for murder, so you see why it is in their interest to fully comply to all the rules.

There's an excellent Dutch film about the subject, Simon. If you're interested.
