I'd somewhat agree with you thereWhile I like Spaced a lot and find it quite funny and quotable it's nowhere near being one of Britain's best comedies.

Dinnerladies was written by Victoria Wood, who's a stupidly funny womanI bought the boxset for about a tenner on Play.com and it's easily the biggest bargain I've got. I thought it was hilarious in a madcap, farcical, way
