I played ecco for the 1st time last year on my PSP (magadrive collection)
I assumed that the years had not been kind. Was it just as shit in 1992?

that's the thing with most old games
they're great in reminiscence (and actually were good in their days), but when you break out the ol' C64 to get "that feeling" again, it's mostly a collection of bad graphics, lagged controls and simple-minded gameplay. Nostalgia's meant to stay in one's head.
(except for some remarkable pearls like e.g. Civilisation)
