It's not a thousand miles from the POV language anyway. Other than POV appears to be not very good at recursion and you have to use while loops.
I'll have to take a look and compare the features.

Just so. Usually why people resort to external applications.
Rather than writing it in POV directly. Procedural geometry
can get you some wild stuff. Hard bit, much like procedural
texturing, is working out the script. Not much has been done
to accelerate either as of yet. You might want to check out
the original papers and examples for some neat ideas.
