Oh yes.In fact you have to be careful when heating water in a microwave, if you're very unlucky it can become superheated. Then when you stick a spoon in to stir it, it'll boil explosively.

Oh hell yeah! :DNucleation does pop up in all sorts of places, I'm studying Materials Science and it always seems to be the explanation for something. The best demonstration we had involved champagne, and how to pour it without getting too much foam on top. (And then drink it of course!)
