
honestly, don't - stay off it.
I badly twisted my ankle just before christmas (the sort of thing where you hear a *pop* and see the the sole, then scream like a little girl).
I had to take a few days off as it hurt THAT much... I didn't see the doc at the time (first mistake), and it's been painful ever since as I haven't stayed off it (second).
Now, i cannot physically jog, let alone run, and I have an idiot doctor who kept asking me when I finally saw him last week 'what do you think is wrong with it' after I described in detail what happened and where it hurts.
