I have a leg of lamb for Sunday lunch but my folks who usually come round, are away so I might just be rebellious and have butties and beer, with lashings of football and bike racing.

I wonder where they all get to?

When I was very young, probably just 4 or 5, I was in the butcher's and I started to wonder what happened to all the animals that they took the meat from. So I asked my mom about it, and she basically lied to me.
She said the animals were ok and they could grow back anything that was taken from them. I don't suppose I believed that for very long, but it was enough to shut me up right then.

my kids (though we eat very little flesh at home) refer to everything as chicken. They know it's not, we know we know it's not, but I think it somehow makes them feel better about it so we just smile.
