i really wish my scanner wouldn't fatten up all the lines when i put stuff through it, the bee up there just looks like a little blob now.

then mess with levels rather than standard brightness/contrast.
(At this stage, don't be put off by any imperfections you see at this level of detail)

Then resize your image.(But keep a full size copy)

This could help quite a bit.

i'm already scanning at 300 and resizing, but i'll see what difference the levels make
