In my opinion, it is the most difficult lens to get used to. But once you get the hang of it, it produces great shots.

might just take the plunge with this, I tried the 180mm f/3.5 and realized it was simply impossible without a tripod. 2.8 seems nice and tight as well for something that price; sharp handheld?

But DoF is so shallow, a mere heartbeat could bring you into the fuzzy spheres.
I did all mine without my tripod, but I have no doubt it would be better to use it in most cases.
