# I think anti-malware apps are much more needed these days (Malwarebytes , Superantispyware etc...)
The whole virus -vs- malware/trojan/spyware thing has really gotten out of hand and diversified over the last couple of years. It is difficult for any single anti-badstuff company to keep tabs on it all.

# I'm using Avira and Malwarebytes. No major problems in recent weeks, apart from some dodgy SATA connections and a massive ball of fluff that disabled my CPU fan

# Malwarebytes - I believe that is the best thing out there right now.
I fix PCs so that I can buy food and keep a roof over my head. MBAM makes my day go a lot smoother.

I can sympathise with the bad SATA connection. I am really surprised at how shitty some implementations of SATA can be. I had a brand new; but bad jumper which caused me much grief -- leading me to believe that my shiny new 1TB hard drive was developing problems.

# I think I had the same problem, my new 1TB drive kept giving me SMART errors and another one only worked intermittently. I'm thinking of getting a new motherboard and processor now that I've got the money to do so.
