A little known fact about Pete DohertyHe's actually written some really good songs. It's just that
a) He can't sing, and crack has made him much, much worse than he was at the start, and he was pish to begin with
b) He can't play guitar
c) Ever since he realised that surrounding yourself with people with any talent at all is a threat to your ego, he's surrounded himself with utter arse-dribbles of "musicians", enhancing that "I'm a talentless fuck" sound that he managed to perfect so effortlessly
d) For a while he had an obsession with using Mick Jones as a producer. Many people have a lot of respect for Mick Jones, which is fine, except that his production "technique" consists of "Put a few cheap microphones in a room near the musicians and fuck off to smoke some blow. Mixing? What's mixing? I just turn the bass to full, mate."
It's a pity.

well anything i've heard from him is muck, that whole indie genre thats going on at the moment seems quite terrible and endless
almost everything he's released sounds like muck :(plus, you might equally hate the songs of his that i think are actually good... :)

Most Libertines B sides (excluding shit like Sally Brown) = Fantastic
The Libertines = Fantastic songs ruined by an incompetent producer and Pete Doherty being shit

Killamangiro = Fantastic
Down in Albion = Decent songs (and some fantastic ones) ruined by an incompetent producer, Pete Doherty being shit, and a really, really poor backing band
Shotter's Nation = Way better than people seem to reckon
Doherty Solo

Grace/whateverfuckingstupidnameithad = Surprisingly good

Waterloo to Anywhere = Actually a really good, if uninspired, album, but a let-down because some of Carl's songs in the Libertines were exceptional
