MW2 iron sights are so much better than in MW1, I find.
I used to have exactly the same class before I went prestige, except I used a Magnum, or Deagle, depending on how much I cared about shooting.

I'm about level 12, I think.
My brother has got me into using the M4, and it is a beast with an ACOG.
When I get a few more perks/pro perks I might start playing hardcore TDM again.
