# So - anyone played Mass Effect 2 yet?
Just in the throes of a final run-through if 1 to remember what it's about and generate a decent character to take into 2 but wondered if anyone has given it a run yet?

# Relax, put down the sugar bowl and slowly back away...

# I like it when it gets all scratchy in your eyes

# Yup, I have
it's an outstanding game - a 9/10, BUT, it's missing various bits from teh first that I prefered (an inventory for one thing) and it's steadily moving from ActionRPG to a pure action game with a great plot.

Also, there are some NASTY bugs in it

Still a brilliant game, though!

# not played it yet; finished the 1st one a few months back though
Playing Dragon Age like mental though, really enjoying that.

# Dragon Age ate my life for about 3 months...

# I just stopped playing that to go through ME2...
I have nothing that I can be bothered two play for almost a year, and suddenly to great games come along at once

# That's kind of what I read...
As long as they've got rid of the sodding Mako though... Think it's a purchase for this weekend.
(, Wed 3 Feb 2010, 13:19, archived)
# yup, the mako has gone...
I always kinda enjoyed that part of ME1....

# Nah
...but it's quite easy to work around once you cotton on to the fact that there's absolutely jack sh*t to be gained by all that exploration.

# not if you wanted to do all the collection missions - Salarian ID tags, Matriach Writings etc etc
and there were a good few hidden outposts and things if you went hunting about
(, Wed 3 Feb 2010, 13:28, archived)
# But in terms of time invested/reward they're not any great shakes...
I'm not a hardcore completist so can do without a few achievements for the sake of a slicker game.

# I know what you mean; I just really got into the game, so I had to hunt down all the stuff :D

The first one was one of the dullest game-playing experiences I'd ever had.

ME2 is suppossed tio be a bit better... mmm...
Think I'll save my pennies for Bioshock next week
(, Wed 3 Feb 2010, 13:34, archived)
# really? I think it ranks up there as one of my favourites...
I hated Bioshock though. Loved System Shock, and when I heard it was the "spiritual successor" I got all excited...

I hardly used the plasmids, only when it was plot specific; the weapon upgrade system felt tagged on, it was too easy and so on... I still can't understand why it's so popular.

In other news, STALKER 3 is out on friday.

# I just loved the atmos, the style, gameplay
I never played System Shock, so I wasn't playing it thinking "wahat a rip-off"

ME just left me cold. I'd heard so many good things about it and I settled down prepared to lose myself in it, and it was talking, bit of talking, some more talking, ooh choose a response, talking, ... I think it was an hour before I landed on the first planet. Or maybe it just felt like it.

# Yeah, I see what you mean about that... I read the prequel book before it came out just for the hell of it, so
so when it came out, I was straight into it...

If you ever get the chance, pick up a copy of System Shock 2. Hopefully GOG.com will get it in soon
