Lots of America is shit, but there are still large bastions of decency. I do wonder what the tipping point was for Britain.

I'm from middlesbrough. A lot of people who have never left the place believe it is the best place in the world so subjectively parts of it are indeed perfect.
Sadly this is also the place where an elderly lady was in hospital for a few days to have a tumour removed and came back to find that she had been burgled and that everyone in the street had shared out her possessions between them.
I think the red-tops lay the blame on stereotypical "chavs" in order to make their readers feel better. The group of lads who we pissing on swans in the lake and spraying them with spraycans turned out to be from very middleclass homes.
