This is a normal post I feel angry to the point of imaginary homicide because they felt the need to applaud at the end of it... who are they applauding? The guy in the control room who pressed the "Go" button? or the engineers who designed it?

This is a normal post You've obviously never flown into Wellington (NZ) then
Google 'rough airport landings at wellington' and imagine being in some of those planes. I've flown into it on 20 seaters and on a normal day (ie windy) it's more fun than any roller coaster.
