they have been there years listening to the normal grinding and groaning as the plates do their usual movements. And now they arent making the usual noises, seems perfectly logical that if the normal movement has stopped, it will keep putting force/pressure on the joins and then release.

They've only been listening for the last three years and they've heard nothing in that time. Saying this one is not behaving like others that do make regular noises is fine. Using that to infer that there's a huge earthquake imminent is not.

why would this one NOT be usually making noises?
That to me is the worry, as its massive.
