Obviously it raises serious environmental concerns, that ought not to be overlooked,
but anything that
a) keeps the price of oil down in a global economy hugely dependent on oil for transportation of food and manufacture of plastic etc
and
b) reduces the income of extremists' funding
is not all bad.
