My bank done something similar recently, phoned me out of the blue then asked me personal details to pass security, get to fuck!

So I asked them if I could set an additional security question of my own choosing. Now when they phone me up I insist that they ask me the extra question first.
It doesn't really matter if the answer to that question is guessable, the fact that they know which extra question to ask allows me to verify they've dealt with me before.
I've done this with 3 banks, 2 mortgage brokers and a handful of insurance companies.
Plus there's something fun about getting the poor sod in the call centre ask me "what flavour jelly would you like me to fill my wellies with?" (I'm not a customer of that company any more)
