It's the new narcissism
Instead of people taking pictures of a beautiful place to remember that place, they now take pictures of themselves at a beautiful place, so it's now about them, "look at me at this beautiful place" the place has become irrelevant.
Or perhaps it's to help prevent Alzheimer's?
