Yeah.
It grates as we know it how it is, that aside i just don't think it would have the same impact with this music, especially throughout the whole film.

Apparently Kubrick planned to use Richard Strauss all along
And he commissioned Alex North knowing full well he wouldn't use the score. Classy move Stanley!
